Summer Program
2024 Summer Programs
We are looking forward to another great summer of building, rowing, and fishing! We have designed a progressive curriculum starting with the basics in week one, all the way up to the third and fourth weeks when individuals will be designing and building their own boats. In addition to our building projects, all participants will spend time outside every day playing games, as well as rowing and fishing on Fort Point Channel. No swimming or boating experience necessary. Registration fees are refundable less a cancellation fee or can be converted into a credit for future programs. Registration will open on Thursday 2/1/2024 at 12:00 PM. Scholarships are available upon request.
Hours 9am-4pm
Price per week $500-$600
Location CBB Boatshop - 21 Liberty Drive, Boston, MA (Seaport)
Age range Session-dependent. Please refer to session description below.
Session #1 (July 8-12) - Wooden Backyard Games
Come build a Ladder Toss game and / or a Corn Hole game. Participants will each build their own games that they will get to play with and take home at the end of camp. Ages 7-14; $500.
Session #2 (July 15-19) - Full-size (10') Wooden Rowboat Building
Participants will work in a team of 5-10 people to build our famous 10’ Periwinkle Junior rowboat over the course of the week. We have built hundreds of these beautiful seaworthy boats with kids of all ages and backgrounds. The finished boat will be raffled off to one participant on the last day of camp. Ages 7-14; $575.
Session #3 (July 22 - August 2) - Build Your Own Boat
During this two week program participants will be guided by expert boat builders and provided all of the necessary tools and materials, as they work in our shop on building a full size (6-8’) version of a boat they designed. At the end of this session we will launch our boats and conduct a "sea trial" on a protected and shallow body of water, under the supervision of our staff. You will walk away with a real boat that you designed and built; so satisfying! Ages 9+; $1200.
